Frequently Asked Questions

Hair Removal

How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal involves using targeted laser beams to work under the skin to destroy the hair follicle’s ability to grow hair. It does not affect the surrounding skin and after multiple treatments, hair removal is up to 80% permanent.

Can I reduce the amount of hair in an area?
Yes! Laser hair removal doesn’t have to leave you completely hairless. If you’re interested in reducing hair growth in a certain area, our laser hair removal treatments can be tailored for you.

What does laser hair removal feel like?
The sensation of laser treatment depends on the part of the body being treated and your own personal sensitivity. Many patients describe the pulsing of the laser like being snapped with a rubber band.

Is laser hair removal painful?
Compared to other hair removal methods, even those that are not permanent such as waxing, laser hair removal is certainly less painful. If you’re particularly sensitive to pain or you’re treating a sensitive area, anesthetics can be used to reduce the sensation of the laser.

How many treatments are required for permanent hair removal?
The number of treatments required for permanent hair removal depend on the area being treated and the amount of hair. Your hair removal specialist can create a specific treatment plan for you at your free consultation.

I have thick hair/dark skin/a dermatological condition. Am I a good candidate for laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal traditionally works best on those who have light skin and dark hair, but technology has evolved to improve its effectiveness for people of other skin and hair types. Our GentleMax Pro Plus laser can be carefully calibrated to work on you.

Is laser hair removal really permanent?
Laser hair removal works using multiple treatments, with up to 10% of hair removed after each session. Treatment results in up to 80% hair removal. Over time, hair may re-grow from dormant or new hair follicles. But follicles that have been targeted and destroyed by our laser treatment will not have hair regrowth.

Are there any side effects to laser hair removal?
Side effects from laser hair removal are generally minimal. If pre-treatment indications are carefully followed, you should experience nothing more bothersome than itching, redness, swelling, or tingling for a couple of days.

How do I prepare for laser hair removal treatment?
Your hair removal specialist can discuss specific pre-treatment instructions with you. Generally, you should avoid waxing or plucking hair and avoid direct sunlight for at least two to four weeks. Hair should be shaved 12-24 hours before treatment.

What should I do after hair removal treatment?
Sun and hot water should be avoided after treatment for up to 24 hours. Save the beach and the hot tub for another day. Sun should be avoided as much as possible for up to two weeks and sunscreen should be used at all times.

Is laser hair removal safe?
Laser hair removal is a safe and non-invasive procedure. Our GentleMax Pro Plus hair removal treatment is the result of two decades of innovation that has ironed out problems and made it more efficient and safer.

How long is each treatment session?
The duration of treatment depends on the size of the area being treated. The laser can target many hair follicles simultaneously so an area as small as the upper lip can be treated in as little as minutes. Larger areas may take up to an hour.

Tatoo Removal

How painful is tattoo removal?
Tattoo removal is no more painful than getting a tattoo. The sensation of the laser is often described as the feeling of having a rubber band snapped against your skin or the way it feels to scratch sunburned skin.

How does laser tattoo removal work?
Our PicoWay laser targets the pigment of the tattoo to disrupt it so it can be absorbed and broken down by the body, making it less and less visible with each session. Since the laser light only affects the ink, the skin and surrounding tissue will not be affected by laser tattoo removal treatment.

How many treatments will I need to completely remove my tattoo?
The number of treatments required to fully remove a tattoo depend on a lot of factors including your immune system, skin type, tattoo color and size, ink used, and the depth of the tattoo. At your free consultation, one of our tattoo removal specialists will assess your tattoo and create a specific treatment.

Will I see results right away?
After the first treatment, it may take as long as 6-8 weeks for you to see a visible difference. This is the amount of time it takes your body to break down and eliminate the ink that was directly affected by the laser.

Will laser tattoo removal leave a scar?
It’s a common myth that tattoo removal leaves a horrible scar. As technology has evolved, the lasers used have become refined to prevent surrounding skin tissue from being affected during treatment.

Is tattoo removal safe?
Tattoo removal is a safe and noninvasive procedure. In fact, our PicoWay tattoo removal technology is FDA-approved so you can be sure that it’s safe to use.

I have a tattoo that is multicolored. Can all of it be removed?
Multicolored tattoos can be treated and removed in the same way as all-black tattoos. The only difference is the number of treatments required. Dark pigments will usually start to fade first with lighter colors beginning to fade more gradually, requiring additional treatments.

What ink colors are hardest to remove?
Pigments that don’t offer enough contrast between the ink and the color of the surrounding skin are typically the hardest to remove. This includes colors that are light such as yellow or turquoise.

What do I have to do before a tattoo removal session?
To maximize the effectiveness of tattoo removal and reduce the possibility of side effects, it is best to avoid direct sunlight for at least two weeks before tattoo removal begins. At our free consultation, we can discuss more specific pre-treatment instructions.

What do I have to do after a tattoo removal session?
Similar to tattoo aftercare, you should avoid swimming and direct sunlight for at least a day. The area should remain moisturized and ice can be applied to relieve discomfort.

What can I expect during a laser tattoo removal procedure?
During a session, our laser technology will target the pigment under your skin. This process can take anywhere from a couple of minutes to an hour depending on the size and placement of the tattoo. This affected ink will be broken down over the course of several weeks after treatment by your body. That’s why it’s recommended to wait 8-10 weeks between treatments.

Is tattoo removal more effective for some skin types?
Tattoo removal is fastest for some skin types, but it can be effective for all skin types. That’s because the laser technology works by targeting pigments that have a high contrast with the surrounding skin. Individuals with light skin and dark tattoos will likely require fewer sessions than those with dark skin and light ink tattoos. But evolving technology has made it possible for the treatment to be adjusted to treat many different skin types.

Skin Rejuvenation

What can laser skin rejuvenation be used to treat?
Laser skin rejuvenation can treat a variety of skin issues including major scarring, acne scars, wrinkles and fine lines, discoloration, sun damage, large pores, birthmarks, and freckles.

How do lasers work for skin rejuvenation?
Our PicoWay technology is specifically calibrated to treat whatever skin imperfection you want to remove. This includes scar tissue, skin discoloration, or wrinkles. Lasers can work on surface-level blemishes or deep under the skin without touching the surrounding healthy tissue. Through these powerful ultra-fast pulses, the skin is firmed and pigmentation is evened out, leaving only healthy youthful-looking skin.

Do skin rejuvenation treatments hurt?
Laser rejuvenation treatments may be uncomfortable, but not terribly painful. The laser pulses are described as a slight sting, like the snap of a rubber band. If you’re sensitive to pain, this can also be alleviated through the use of topical anesthetics.

How many treatments will it take to treat my skin concerns?
The number of treatments required to treat any skin issue depends on different factors including skin type, the size of the area being treated, the complexity of the area, and the desired results. Our free consultation can provide you with more detailed information specific to you and your problem skin.

Will laser skin treatment cause scarring?
Absolutely not. In fact, laser hair treatment is used to reduce the appearance of existing scars. Since the lasers do not damage healthy tissue surrounding the targeted areas, you should not expect any scarring.

What do I need to do to prepare for skin rejuvenation treatment?
Before skin rejuvenation treatment, you should avoid sunlight as much as possible for at least two weeks. You should not use skin products including makeup or lotions immediately prior to treatment.

What do I need to do after skin rejuvenation treatment?

We want to provide only the best and most efficient treatments to our customers, which is why we use the FDA-approved PicoWay laser technology. It is noninvasive and safe.

What can I expect during the treatment process?
